Today we had a slow start to a busy day. we woke up and needed some American size portions to help aid our recovery from the night before. We walked down to a local French restaurant called Pizza Hut. It was good in a couple ways. 1. We finally were able to eat enough food to satiate our appetites. 2. It was still French enough that we didn't feel like slobs trying to find the nearest American food (we were). Then we walked over to meet Kelly and Rachel. We looked up some places for dinner and walked to a place where we made a reservation. We had exactly two hours to find the Metro, get to the Eiffel Tower, and make it back for dinner. After we got lost looking a for a metro station, we had about an hour and a half. We made it to the Eiffel Tower and it was really incredible to see it lit up at night. Being far away and being really close are two very different experiences (tip: do both). We then rushed back and barely made it in time for our reservation. There were two groups in front of us that got turned down for not making their reservation in time. We walked past the open hearth where they cooked all the food and down the stairs where the stone on the chimney said it was built in 1726. We ordered a huge feast and ate every last bit. This was on of the greatest meals of all time. A cheese plate, escargot, salad, ribeyes, wine, potatoes, and creme brule. We were definitely not complaining about portion sizes. Then we walked to a bar and had a few drinks and had to say goodbye to Kelly and Rachel. It was a lot of fun seeing them and hanging out with them in Paris. Hopefully they have a safe flight, and Rachel does well at her conference. Tomorrow we're on our own again. Updates to follow.
